Saturday 14 December 2019

The walk on Wednesday 18th December is from the New Bridge car park at Rojales. The leave time from La Marina will be 10am. This is the last walk until January 8th 2020, so I would like to wish everyone a nice Christmas and all the very best for the New Year.
The walk on Wednesday 11th December was attended by 30 walkers on a warm sunny day. It was the longest walk we do at 12.5kms but fortunately is mainly flat, however a lot of the walkers found the sandy part very tiring especially on the way back.

Wednesday 4 December 2019

As everyone knows the walk on Wednesday 4th December was cancelled due to the heavy rain that has fallen over the last few days. However it will be rescheduled for later in the season.
The walk on Wednesday 11th December is from the La Mata visitors car park, we will be leaving La Marina at 10am. This is 12.5kms and the longest walk we do, it is partly on a sand path and on road. There is a coffee stop at Manolo's on the "Lemon Tree road".

Monday 25 November 2019

The walk on Wednesday 27th Nvember is at the El Fondo Park at Catral. We will be leaving La Marina at 9.30am.
The walk at Parque Del Clot on Wednesday 20th was attended by 27 walkers and didn't turn out as expected. First of all we came across a gate which was not there last year which threw me as I knew we did not turn left at a gate. This after turning round and returning to the gate added an extra 3.5kms to the walk . Then before we knew the bottom footpaths were flooded I knew that after a stop for people to catch up we would not make it back to the car park before 1.30. Several walkers had lunch booked for 2pm in Rojales so they walked on, they had not gone far before before finding the flooded footpaths which appeared impassable. The group then split, some retracing their route, some waded through the floodwater and the rest made there way to the N332 where they were eventually picked up.
However everyone finished safe and well if not a bit tired. The ones who walked to the N332 coverered just over 10kms as did the waders, the group who returned by reversing the walk covered just over 14kms. Apart from that it was fine the weather dry and a nice day for walking.
I must warn walkers that it is imperative that the back marker is made aware of anyone leaving the group.
The map included below shows the route to the N332.

Thursday 31 October 2019

First of all I would like to apologise for not doing the Blog last week, the reason for this is that I had problems with my computer which hopefully I have now cured. For those interested the walk last week Wednesday23rd was attended by 28 walkers.
This week the walk was the one added as a result of the first walk having to be changed, but even this had to be deviated due to a road having been washed away. This deviation added 2kms to the original walk making the walk 10.5kms on a very warm sunny day. Never the less the walk was attended by 30 walkers.
The walk on Wednesday 6th November is La Mata Natural and we will be leaving La Marina at 9.45am.

Sunday 20 October 2019

The walk on Wednesday 23rd is along the Jacarrilla to Bigastro Canal, with a coffee stop in Bigastro.
We will be leaving La Marina at 9.30am.
The walk on Wednesday 16th was from the Wok at Guardamar to the Marjal campsite it was attended by 50 walkers on a hot day and we were plagued with flies. The walk was 8.5kms even though we were not able to return on the correct route due to the ford across the river being submerged and covered in thick mud. As a result we had to use the busy N332 but everyone finished safely.
I have acouple of photos not very good so I didn't publish them on Facebook.
